Art Holidays

Art holidays are a unique opportunity to discover parts of the world with a painter’s eye. Whether you chose to go on a guided art tour abroad, or to stay at home for a painting holiday in the UK, the opportunities to discover the world of art and painting are endless.

Choosing an escorted art tour

When selecting your art holiday, you want to make sure that you are choosing the right experience for you. Do you want to go on a guided painting holiday with an experienced art tutor who will guide you and teach you new painting techniques? Or would you prefer a guided art tour to places of cultural interest, such as art galleries and museums?

When choosing your art holiday, ensure your tour operator is trusted, reliable and ATOL protected. Read reviews from other travelers and decide if the experience on offer is actually to your taste. It may be that an alternative art experience may be better tailored to you.

Guided Painting Holidays

If choosing a guided painting holiday, check out the credibility of the art tutor who will be leading your art tour. Again, read reviews from other travelers or students who have participated in their workshops. Also try to get a good understanding of the personality of the artist – will they inspire and enthuse you or leave you bored and uninspired before you’ve put paint to paper? Are they a professional artist with experience of teaching, or are they more used to working in their studio alone? Do you like their artistic style and do you think you can learn from them?

Decide whether you want a painting holiday for beginners or for more experienced artists. And probably most importantly, make sure you know what medium the art tutor will be mostly working with – is it a only watercolour painting holiday, or will oils and pastels be covered too? Will drawing techniques be covered, and if so, does that interest you?
